Ok, I want to try something out. I feel I'm slowly growing tired of the same places and sheer amount of franchised establishments to eat in the Columbus, GA area. I understand that the city wants to make this a more tourist friendly place, but I think there is a price to be paid for it. I want to be able to experience - and review - the best that this area has to offer, locally. I want to try out as many of the local places as I can (or as many as my wife can stand :-D ) and be able to weed out what's great, what's not, and what's just hype.

This is where I need some help. I've been to a few places already, but I need more. More ideas, more genres of food, more places of true consumer value. If you have ideas on great spots to eat (no national chains allowed), just let me know. Meanwhile, when I can get to it, I'll report on where I've been, and how everything was.

By the way, yes, I know there are other websites that do this sort of thing, and have a nice little star system to go on, but there's nothing personal about them. Even the "expanded reviews" on those sites are just mostly "THIS IZ THA BEST FUD EVAR!!1" or "I HATE THAT PLACE NEVER GOIN BACK!!!". I'm going to try to be as completely objective as possible. I'm no professional food critic, but I know what I like to eat, mostly, and I'm usually up for trying new things.

I really want this to be an encouraging series of articles to get people out there and help support our local entrepreneurs. Will this mean I'm not going to the franchises anymore? No, it just means I'm expanding my horizons a bit.
