Wow, It's been quite a long time since a post has been up here. Well, wait no more. I just got my hands on the now public Blur multiplayer beta from Bizarre Creations. This team has worked on fine games like the Project Gotham Racing and Geometry Wars series, so they know what they're doing when it comes to a racing title. But how do they fair when weapons and absolute crazy arcade-styled action gets thrown into the mix? Hop in to find out my take.
Given the pedigree of the aforementioned series, you'd think that this could be a smash hit. Well, in my opinion, that's exactly what this could be. They've managed to take what they know about PGR, and throw an even more arcade like experience, replacing kudos with fans, the simulation-style physics with a more loose and out of control feel, and completely realistic -and boring- look with a neon-infused, contrast-boosted, dark Geo Wars polish that makes this game stand out among the rest of the titles coming out, like Split-Second, and others. Add that in with a challenge/perk/level up system stripped from Modern Warfare, and you have a real unique and fresh look on the genre.
More to come in a future edit...
